First, look into the cost of roaming in the country to which you're traveling.

Re-educate yourself on the account type you have.

For Prepaid Customers, you can purchase a Roam Easy Plan if traveling to a Digicel Caribbean country. Purchase a roaming add-on (data only) if you are traveling to the U.S Canada and or Digicel Caribbean. Or if you want to use Data, SMS and or Voice you can top-up your wallet.

For Postpaid Consumer Customers, all plans except one comes with the roam free feature that allows use the service while in the U.S and Canada. You can purchase a roaming add-on (data only) if you are traveling to the U.S Canada and or Digicel Caribbean. Or you can use your International Roaming Credit limits for Data, SMS, and Voice.

For Postpaid Corporate Customers, some plans come with additional roaming features or a single feature that can be used in U.S and or Canada. You can also purchase a roaming add-on (data only) if you are traveling to the U.S Canada and or Digicel Caribbean. Or you can use your International Roaming Credit limits for Data, SMS, and Voice.

Remember: If traveling to the US, ensure phone is VoLTE enabled as 3G is no longer supported on any US carrier.

When you arrive at your destination, modern devices will connect to an ALIV roaming partner network, by default. If your phone does not auto-connect to a network, then you can manually search for a network and connect.

1. Select Settings.
2. Select Connections.
3. Select Mobile Data.
4. Select Network Selection.
5. Select the indicator next to "Automatic" to turn automatic network selection off.
6. Once off then choose the required network.

iOS:

1. Select Settings.
2. Select Mobile Data.
3. Select Network Selection.
4. Select the indicator next to "Automatic" to turn automatic network selection off.
5. Once off then choose the required network.

Ensure you start all calls with “+” followed by the country code:

Bahamas: +1 242 111 1111

USA: +1 (Area Code) (7 Digit Number)

Europe: + (Country Code) (rest of number)

Turn off mobile data and Wi-Fi assist before arrival and when not in use. Check roaming charges before traveling and use Wi-Fi when available. You can also review your roaming charges, plan and data balance in the MyALIV app.

If you’re unable to access data check your SMS messages to see if you received a usage notification while roaming.

To call a Bahamian number from another country, you need to use the international dialing code +1242, followed by the local number.

Firstly, you should explore the roaming plan options for the country you are visiting.
